Lampshade Guide

The proportions of a lampshade can transform a room. When choosing a shade, consider the scale of the lamp, the proportions of the base and the setting in which it will sit.

Consider the proportions

As a general guide, the shade should complement the proportions of the lamp base without overwhelming it. Consider both the height and width of the shade in relation to the base, as well as the surrounding furniture and space.

Consider the light

The fabric and construction of a shade influence the quality of light it creates. A lighter fabric will allow more light through, while a lined or darker shade will create a softer, more atmospheric glow.

We recommend using a warm white low-energy LED bulb (E27) for optimal performance and longevity, with a maximum of 10–12W LED equivalent, compatible with all of our shades.

Fitting your lampshade

Our 7” shades have a candle-clip fitting are directly compatible with candle shaped bulbs. Larger lampshades are duplex constructed and fitted with a duplex ring, making them suitable for use with harp and finial lamp bases.

Each shade is supplied with a suitable shade carrier and washer, compatible with both ES and BC fittings.

Orders shipped to the US are supplied with a spider adapter for compatibility with US lamp bases.

Please refer to the individual product page for specific dimensions, fitting and bulb requirements before ordering.
